Jabartoday.com – Bandung– The Steering Committee of the VII Regional Conference of KAHMI West Java has officially set the theme “Transformation of the Ummah Toward a Distinguished West Java” as the organization’s strategic direction to address key challenges including poverty, moral crisis, and digital disruption.
The decision was made during a meeting at the HMI Secretariat on Jalan Sabang No. 17, Bandung, on Sunday, led by SC Chairman dr. Asad, and attended by Presidium members Prof. Fauzan Ali Rasyid and Dodi Ferdiana Kusnandar, along with other SC and OC representatives.
SC Chairman dr. Asad emphasized that the theme reflects a strategic call for KAHMI to take a more tangible role in community development. He stated that the ummah today faces three major challenges: poverty, moral crisis, and digital disruption. Citing BPS data showing West Java’s poverty rate remains at 7.17 percent as of February 2025, he stressed that this demands collective action. He further emphasized that KAHMI must move beyond ceremonial activities to become a driver of change, strengthening the ummah spiritually, intellectually, socially, and economically.
Presidium member Prof. Fauzan Ali Rasyid explained that the theme translates into three main transformation agendas. The first is human resource transformation, which focuses on shifting mindsets, strengthening character, improving education quality, and developing competencies to compete globally. The second is economic transformation, which centers on building people-centered economic development, strengthening entrepreneurship, empowering MSMEs, developing Islamic economics, and promoting an inclusive digital economy. The third is political transformation, which encourages democratic, integrity-based, professional governance that prioritizes public interests and strengthens democracy and public services.
The Steering Committee also endorsed “Desa Insan Cita” (Ideal Human Village) as a strategic concept and policy output of the conference. This model integrates five key dimensions: character education, local economic empowerment, professional and accountable village governance, competency-based leadership, and active community participation. The concept views villages as miniatures of the nation, where good governance, strong character, productive local economies, and capable leadership will provide a solid foundation for national development. The conference will produce a Desa Insan Cita Roadmap as a conceptual document for developing model villages based on character education, productive economy, good governance, and community participation. This will serve as a basis for collaboration between KAHMI West Java and local governments, universities, businesses, and other stakeholders to develop pilot villages across West Java.
SC Secretary Dr. Ahmad Zakiyuddin announced that Muswil VII KAHMI West Java will be held on August 8–9, 2026, at Grand Asrilia Hotel, Bandung. The conference will include accountability reports, election of the new Presidium, and the formulation of strategic policy recommendations, including recommendations on human resource, economic, and political transformation, as well as the Desa Insan Cita Roadmap as a collaborative program involving government and various stakeholders. He emphasized that the conference is not just about electing new leadership but also about producing ideas and strategic recommendations that benefit the community.
Through this conference, KAHMI West Java reaffirms its commitment to being a strategic partner for the government and society in driving sustainable ummah transformation. With the Desa Insan Cita concept and three transformation pillars, KAHMI aims to evolve from an exclusive alumni organization into a real driver of change. A Distinguished West Java is not a dream. It is a collective project that requires real action, cross-sector collaboration, and unwavering commitment. (roez)
