JABARTODAY.COM, BANDUNG – – Universitas ‘Aisyiyah (Unisa) Bandung recorded a historic milestone in its academic journey by inaugurating the first professor in the history of the institution. This historic momentum was marked by the inauguration of Prof. Dr. Sitti Syabariyah, S.Kp., MS.Biomed as a Professor in Nursing on Thursday (7/2/2025).
On this proud occasion, Prof. Sitti delivered a scientific oration that discussed significant discoveries in the world of health. Her inaugural speech entitled “The Role of Nitric Oxide in Healing Diabetic Wounds and Its Implications for Modern Treatment Interventions to Prevent Amputation” provided a new perspective in the treatment of diabetic patients.
This research not only provides theoretical contributions but also has practical applications that can help prevent serious complications in diabetic patients. Prof. Sitti believes that a deep understanding of the role of Nitric Oxide can be the key to developing more effective treatment methods to prevent the risk of amputation in diabetic patients.
This historic achievement was warmly welcomed by various stakeholders. The Rector of Unisa Bandung, Tia Setiawati, M.Kep.,Ns.,Sp.Kep.An., views this moment as a strategic step in the development of the institution.
“The inauguration of Prof. Siti Syabariyah as a professor is not only an individual achievement, but also an important milestone for Unisa Bandung on the journey towards academic excellence, in order to realize Unisa Bandung as a leading university that integrates Islamic values and science,” she said.
This success also received attention from the Central Leadership of ‘Aisyiyah. Dr. Apt. Salmah Orbayinah, M.Kes., as the General Chairperson of PP ‘Aisyiyah, emphasized the importance of contributing to the development of science.
“As part of ‘Aisyiyah, we must continue to contribute to developing science that is beneficial to the people,” she said.
Meanwhile, Dr. Lukman, S.T., M.Hum., as the Head of LLDIKTI Region IV, highlighted this achievement as proof of Unisa Bandung’s commitment to improving the quality of higher education.
“We are very proud and appreciate Unisa Bandung which has succeeded in inaugurating its first Professor. This is an extraordinary achievement that shows a commitment to improving the quality of higher education,” he said.
This inauguration also received special attention from the Central Leadership of Muhammadiyah. Through Prof. Dr. Jamhari Makruf, M.A., as Deputy Chairperson of the PP Muhammadiyah Diktilitbang Council, this organization expressed its great hopes. “The inauguration of this Professor is a historic moment for Unisa Bandung. We hope this will motivate lecturers and other academics to continue to excel and contribute to society,” he said.
This achievement is real evidence of Unisa Bandung’s seriousness in developing academic and research quality. The presence of this first Professor is expected to be a catalyst for the development of research and innovation in the field of nursing, especially in the treatment of diabetes patients. More than that, this achievement also shows the ability of a university based on Islamic values in integrating modern science with Islamic values.
In the future, the inauguration of Prof. Dr. Sitti Syabariyah is expected to pave the way for the birth of new professors in the Unisa Bandung environment, as well as strengthen the position of this institution in the national higher education map. Research on Nitric Oxide which is the focus of his studies is also expected to have a real impact on the development of diabetes patient care protocols in Indonesia.
