Jabartoday.com-JAKARTARumah Demokrasi (Rudem), in collaboration with the FoodBank of Indonesia (FOI) and the education sector, celebrated the victory of Ramadan in 2024 by distributing 1,200 iftar meals (takjil).

The event also featured the sale of 1 kg of frozen beef accompanied by 1 liter of vegetable oil for Rp. 100,000 (one hundred thousand Indonesian Rupiah).

Wida, the Chairperson of the Foodbank of Indonesia Foundation, hoped that the distribution of ready-to-eat meals at the Nurul Khairiyah Mosque would help alleviate the burden on communities preparing for Eid.

“We celebrate the victory of Ramadan by sharing happiness in the form of food. The community will be helped by having access to food amidst the skyrocketing prices of basic necessities ahead of Eid,” she said on Monday (8/4).

The schools involved in this activity include SMP 1 Al Khairiyah, teachers from the Indonesian Teachers Association (PGRI) of Koja District, and Alumni of SMP Negeri 30 from the 1984 batch, abbreviated as 3084.

Together, they distributed frozen beef and vegetable oil to residents and organized all the coupons to be distributed directly to the elderly and underprivileged families in need.

Ramdansyah, the leader of Rumah Demokrasi, proposed the theme of pluralism in celebrating the victory of Ramadan 1445.

Rudem itself is an institution that emphasizes volunteerism, legal assistance, advocacy in the fields of politics, social issues, and democracy.

“This activity is spontaneously supported by different institutions such as Rumah Demokrasi, FOI, and the education sector that want to serve the community broadly,” said Ramdansyah, who previously served as the Chairman of the Provincial Election Supervisory Committee (Panwaslu) of DKI Jakarta.

Ramdansyah emphasized that pluralism is evident from the activists who distributed 1,200 meals, including non-Muslim alumni of 3084 who still wanted to share with Rudem and FOI.

Ramdansyah, who previously served as the Chairman of the Alumni 3084, stated that the collaboration with FOI in 2024 is the second time. Previously, on March 23, 2024, 1,800 iftar meals were distributed at the Hayas Sholah Mosque on Jl. Mengkudu, Lagoa Koja, North Jakarta.

In 2023, the joint activity with FOI was held at the Al Mukarromah Mosque with the distribution of 3,600 iftar meals. Rudem also collaborated with the Baitul Harisin Mosque at the Koja Police Station for the distribution of iftar meals during Ramadan 1445. [ruz]
