Cilor Cumlaude, Students’ Favourite Street Food

Cilor Cumlaude, a favorite street food of students during breaks because it tastes better using real eggs

Jabartoday.com-Kuningan– Situated in the heart of Kuningan University’s campus, right opposite the BNI ATM at the university, a popular street food spot attracts numerous students during their break. Known as Cilor Cumlaude, this snack stand has become a favorite among the campus crowd.

The proprietor of Cilor Cumlaude, Syahrul, shared that the snack was originally called Cilor Idaman. However, he renamed it to Cilor Cumlaude to reflect its campus-based location. Syahrul has been vending at the university for approximately six years. Offering an affordable treat, each skewer of Cilor Cumlaude is priced at only Rp 1 thousand. On an average day, Syahrul sells about 500 skewers, bringing in a daily revenue of around Rp 500 thousand.

“Currently, I sell a maximum of 500 skewers daily, each at Rp 1 thousand. This totals up to Rp 500 thousand,” Syahrul stated on Tuesday (12/5/2023).

At a glance, Cilor Cumlaude might look like any other cilor, but according to Syahrul, the secret lies in the eggs used in his recipe.

Captured in a photograph by Aulia Apriliani, Cilor Cumlaude is fried in pure egg batter. “Unlike other places where eggs are diluted with water, I use only real eggs,” he explained.

In addition to the authentic eggs, the sauce is a homemade recipe, offering a richer flavor compared to standard packaged sauces. Cilor Cumlaude is available near the UNIKU campus I from 8.00 am to 16.00 pm, and also offers delivery services for the convenience of students.

Kharisma, a frequent customer, praised the unique taste of Cilor Cumlaude. She noted the difference in the eggs used, which are not watered down as is often the case with other vendors.

“It’s truly scrumptious because the eggs are pure, unlike other sellers who mix them with water. Here, they use a whole egg, fried directly with the tapioca flour. The sauce is equally delightful,” said Kharisma. (Aulia)
