JABARTODAY.COM-SUKABUMI. West Java Vice Governor Uu Ruzhanul Ulum announced that the West Java Provincial Government, through the Smooth Road Program (Jalan Mulus), will repair a 3.4-kilometer stretch of Cikembar Road in Sukabumi Regency.
Vice Governor Uu Ruzhanul Ulum personally inspected the damaged road section in Cikembar Subdistrict, Sukabumi Regency, and listened to the aspirations of local residents regarding infrastructure improvement.
He explained that the road maintenance in Cikembar was previously a joint agreement between the West Java Provincial Government and PT. Semen Jawa (Siam Cement Group), which operates in the area. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, road maintenance was halted, resulting in complaints from the residents about the road’s condition.
To address this, the provincial government will revise the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and undertake the construction of the 3.4-kilometer road section independently, including the installation of drainage on both sides of the road.
Regarding the timeline, Vice Governor Uu urged for a faster implementation. The use of an e-catalog system in West Java allows for accelerated bidding processes, ensuring that the results can be felt by the public sooner.
The bidding process is targeted to be announced this month, with construction set to commence in February 2023.
Vice Governor Uu emphasized that the road construction efforts are not limited to the Cikembar road section but also encompass the southern ring road and the southern region of West Java. This includes Tegalbuleud, Baros, and Sagaranten, where the roads will be widened from four to six meters. Additionally, these roads will undergo improvement and maintenance.
He reassured that the West Java Provincial Government is committed to gradually addressing road infrastructure in Sukabumi based on its capacity, and this year, special attention will be given to the region. [ruz]
